Tonights outfit to Haven restaurant in Brookhaven is a silky Bcbg silk top and Express shorts. Shoes are from a local boutique called Fab'rik for only $25! Bracelet watch is from Nordstrom for only $16. An absolute steal. Belt is taken from an old pair of Abercrombie shorts. Use what you got!

A New Hem

Mini's and Maxi's are definitely on the forefront of our closet these days, but what's the next new hem line?  The mid calf, above the knee, and the asymmetrical hem line are what's on our mind now for what's new.  check out some of these pics from Asos.  Experiment with these new looks, but be sure to keep in mind your proportions!  No one wants a flowy mid calf skirt with a flowy top, keep it structured on top, or structured on the bottom.

A Neat Little Bow

While browsing the sale racks at Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale today, I couldn't help but get distracted from the full price adorable shoes that were right next to me.  Since I am on a budget (hence the Half Yearly Sale), I was glad to come across these girly and fun sandals with the most amazing bow on top.  They came in several colors, but something about this yellow just made me smile!  The color was bright and vibrant.  It will add POP to any outfit.  Add it to a blue or purple sundress to create some interest.  When using a complimentary color, always look at your color wheel and pick something opposite of the wheel from the color you are choosing.  Use that as a guide to add some contrast and interest.  This has been one of the best styling tools I've ever learned.  It's easy to fall into a rut with your color combinations.  These yellow bow sandals will add that new punch of color to your summer wardrobe.

Michael Kors Fall 2011

I think today was the first time I saw 90 on the thermometer, which makes me think of summery dresses, shorts and flip flops. The fashion world thinks differently. They are thinking over the knee boots, chunky knit sweaters and grey pant suits. Below are some of my favorite picks from Michael Kors Fall 2011.

 

 

 

 

 

I'm so excited for the new trends for Fall already. I'm glad to see over the knee boots are back again for another round of winter wear. Grey seems to be his color for Fall which I am lusting over in those sweaters and dresses.

I'll be wearing flip flops and shorts for right now, but beware when Fall trends start showing up in the stores, I'll be on a hunt for over the knee boots and amazing sweaters to bundle up in

The Carry-it-all Bag

One thing I've learned while staying in NYC this weekend.... I need a bigger better bag. My everyday black handbag is quite large, but someone should have warned me it wouldn't be big enough for my change of shoes, scarf and jacket while schlepping around the city. Not to mention the strain on my shoulders due to the extra pounds. The answer to my problem is on every locals shoulder, a large tote or a comfortable cross body bag. Here are some of my favorite picks for the perfect weekend getaway bag to carry everything you need comfortably.

At the top is a great bold red tote by Big Buddha to carry everything from 9-5 to shoes for dinner reservations.

The Trouvé cross body bag is perfect for a Saturday stroll and vintage shopping allowing your hands to be free to dig on those sale racks!

The last two are obviously my favorites. Both can switch from a shoulder bag to a cross body style with ease.

The MARC by Marc Jacobs bag features pebbled leather (my fav) and a great big flap to protect any items from falling out.

While the Tory Burch bag is more of a tote, this spacious bag is chic and elegant and is perfect to throw your laptop in and change of shoes. You may even be able to use this as an overnight bag if you pack smart.

Whichever bag you fancy, you will be sure to be prepared for whatever the city may throw at you from a great sale, a stroll in the park or a dinner date; you'll be sure to have everything you need right by your side.

Red Lipstick

While in NYC I discovered how amazing red lipstick is. Headed to the MAC store to find the perfect shade for my skin tone. Ladies, if you want to try this trend, consult an expert. With olive skin we chose something more dark with hints of burgundy. For lighter skin toned, find something a bit warmer that won't be so harsh against your skin tone. Wether you choose to wear it matte or glossy, this trend is my new favorite. Instantly spices up your look and you can go easy on the rest of your makeup. Mascara and liner is all you need to finish this off. Steer clear of too much eye make up or you risk looking like a show girl. Happy travels!

 Going to need to get a real full length mirror now that I no longer have access to the work bathroom. Off for vacation and wearing some comfy Tory Burch flats, my ripped boyfriend Seven jeans, black lace tee, white blazer and leopard print infinity scarf. Off to jet set!

Today's outfit features my favorite color coral. I paired this cowl neck sweater with some tan editor pants and my Seychelles. This is the last day you'll see me taking photos in this bathroom. Last day of work and off to new adventures!

A Few Harsh Words

It's time for a few harsh words on some of the ridiculous outfits on the red carpet of the Met Gala.  It's one thing if they were doing a tribute JUST to Alexander McQueen and stars were expected to show up in ridiculous gowns as he would've loved, but something tells me, someone needs to fire these stylists....

Really not sure how the crowds liked this.  I haven't gotten a good read on if people were for or against this awful Emilio Pucci dress.  She looks like her nipples are coming out of the dresss, but its just lace no worries.  I'm not quite sure what's going on with Jay-Z's hair.  He sort of looks like a young school boy who needs a haircut.  Is the longer hair coming back for men?  I'm not a fan...

FYI Christina, it isn't October....Your witch costume can stay in the closet a few more months.  I usually love Zac Posen designs, but this just doesn't do it for me. If it didn't have the high neck and long sleeves, I think it wouldn't have been so awful.

Oh Iman.... What can I say.  If I were her age and looked that good I may just show up to an event in a gold glitter jumpsuit.  I have to give her credit, but at the same time, you aren't Cher hunny....But that belt is quite fabulous.

I don't know what to say about Jessica, except for the fact that half of the people who shop at Topshop probably own this dress and have worn it out to a bachelorette party.  I guess the designers ran out of dresses for her to wear for the night.  Although I do like this dress, it is not appropriate for the Met Gala.  And what's with the shoes?  Are thos tassles?

Kate Hudson has been on the red carpet a bit lately for her recent movie coming out.  She has looked amazing everytime I've seen her while being pregnant.  But something happened here that isn't pretty and is a bit of a hot mess.  I'm not quite sure what is with the jewel on her head, do you?  I'm a huge fan of hers, but today, sorry Kate, just isn't your day.

WHAT a mess.  Who let her out of the house like this? Someone fire her stylist.  Chanel needs to throw this dress in the donate pile.  It looks like something an old teacher would wear to a PTA meeting.

I get it Miranda, you're hot, you've got awesome legs, but you look like a tutu bride who's 5 years old with pigtails.  The dress is appropriate for dancing with the Stars, or maybe the Victoria's Secret Angel show, did she forget her wings in the limo?

Here comes the bride... all dressed in white!  Her and Miranda look like they've got royal wedding fever and have channeled their inner bride at the Met.  The dress is beautiful, but together, they look like they are off to be wed! 

A Top Spring Look From Topshop

If you ever see me roaming the streets of Atlanta, shopping, eating, or walking the dog (yes in those shoes), you'll likely see me in something similar to this great outfit I picked out from Topshop.  Add some wooden and gold bangles and you have the perfect outfit for a Summer concert , lunch al fresco, or trip to the grocery store.  I love the floral prints that are out right now for Spring.  They are feminine and simple to incorporate into your wardrobe.  And how about those chunky wedges?  I love the bold orange color, it makes the top pop!   Can't go wrong with a wedge, makes for a perfectly comfy shoe for a day out in the sun!

This is my favorite item right now, my black 3/4 length sleeve blazer.  It adds a touch of class to any outfit.  I love wearing it with jeans, slacks or even a little dress.  I love mixing something structured with something flowy.  Shoes are from Aldo.  Best deal ever!

Yesterday's Met Gala was a show of reds, nudes and lots of sparkle.  Here are some of my favorite picks for best dressed.  I loved all of these clean lines and colors.  I especially loved Brooklyn Decker's hot pink Michael Kors dress.  It's so simple, yet she looks like a knock out! Hailee is another one of my favorites.  The hem line on her is perfect and age appropriate.  Those shoes by the way, are AMAZING.  I think they were a little too much with her dress, but none the less a great shoe.  Youthful and fun.

Today's outfit is simply classic.  Black editor pants by Express (I have these in EVERY color they are the BEST pants for work) and my Target find, a ruffle front sleeveless blouse.  I love this top so much.  It was only around $20 and it goes great with work items, jeans and a blazer, or dressy shorts for a nice lunch date in the Summer time.  My bracelet is by Club Monaco.

Fashion Obsession - Club Monaco

Okay, I admit, a little obsessed with Club Monaco.  How can you not be, it's classic, preppy, sexy and God I love their jewelry.  Here are some of my favorite picks from their recent lookbook.  Starting with the beaded necklace that I may just have to run and buy after work today, this will go great with anything from a white tee to an LBD.  I love the casual yet sophisticated looks of Club Monaco.  That Maxi dress with the straw bag is an essential beach outfit or day at the farmer's market with your pooch.  None the less, you can't go wrong with a Club Monaco piece of jewelry, blouse or skirt.

Unfortunately today's picture is not showing up as I would like it to thanks to the not so advanced iPhone camera and poor bathroom lighting.  None the less, today's outfit is inspired by cool hues of grey and blue.  Navy silk cowl neck top by The Limited and a grey banded pencil skirt from Express.  Paired with one of my favorite pairs of shoes, my cream Seychelles.  Touch of gold accessories, and voila!  Monday's outfit!  Happy Monday Everyone!

Love Me Some YSL

One of my favorite shoes to dream about are Yves Saint Laurent's insanely high shoes.  Two of my favorites for right now is the classic YSL pump and Spring's new cork wedge.  The classic YSL pump goes with everything from your skinny jeans to a Spring floral frock.  Not to mention this chunky yet sophisticated strappy cork wedge which will look great with some high waisted wide leg pants and a silky blouse, or better yet, some short shorts.  YSL is always on my mind when it comes to a great shoe.
