Fall Make-Up

Fall Make Up

Few things I swear by in life. Bloody Mary's at brunch, tutu's at CrossFit (life changing, really) and these make-up tips and tricks.

1.  My BobbiBrown pot rouge is becoming my favorite thing in my purse these days next to my iPhone.  It's great to add to your lips or your cheeks for a little afternoon pick me up.

2.  They're Real mascara by Benefit makes your lashes AMAZING. I also have a huge problem always forgetting to take off my make up before I go to bed (yes even with those wipes at my bedside, I'm still that lazy sometimes) and this is the first mascara that doesn't leave my eyes miserable the next morning. Sleep in it, who cares, you'll look better than everyone else on the morning walk with the dog.

3.  Benefit's Hello Flawless is the first foundation that doesn't make me break out like a 14 year old heading to her first homecoming.  Light enough to not look heavy, but when applied with the Beauty Blender, I don't even need concealer.

4. Beauty Blender. Get one. It's the shit. It'll change your life.  This thing is like magic. It takes regular ol foundation and makes it look airbrushed and perfect on your skin.  Its the greatest thing I ever bought for my make up bag. Buy one.  Thank me later. You're welcome.

5. Trade in your pinks and corals for deep red hues like this Rimmel London lipstick.  Olive skin tone? Go with something with a bluish hue to it.  Fair skinned, opt for a more pink version.

6. Bare Minerals bronzer is the best way to look more alive in the winter. I no longer have a tan, but this makes me look like I'm not sick.

7.  I keep these Neutrogena make up wipes at my bedside for when I forget to wash my face. Or if I'm too drunk to bother.  It's way easier to wipe your face while laying in bed and toss the wipe in the garbage all while staying in the comfort of your pj's and blankets.  It's quite nice.

What make-up do you swear by?

That's A Wrap

It's the quintessential wrap dress.  Wear anywhere, looks great on everyone and will always be in style. We can all thank Ms. DVF herself for this one. A wrap dress makes me feel older and more sophisticated.  Because I'm totally neither. I still watch Spongebob Squarepants and don't like cleaning up my room.  Adult I am not. But that's okay.

Fall Essentials From Head To Toe

Hope everyone survived the madness of Halloween celebrations this weekend. It was also the first really chilly weekend we have had here in Atlanta which instantly makes me realize it's time to whip out all the Fall gear.  I know, we're a little late in the game here in the South. We had a high of 81 last week. We weren't thinking about scarves, boots and sweaters.  But now I am.  And here are some of my essential pieces you'll need for Fall.

You're Invited

I'm extremely excited to finally announce that I will be hosting my very first event as My Style Vita right here in Atlanta at one of my favorite local boutiques, fab'rik.  Fab'rik has an amazing charity called Free Fab'rik that helps provide shopping sprees to teens in need.  They set up their boutiques with donated clothing so that young woman and teens in need can shop without having to worry about the bill all while getting the same experience that you or I may take for granted.

With the holiday's creeping up I thought this was the perfect time to join forces and raise some awareness and collect clothing to fill those racks!  We will have champagne, sweet treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes and lots of fun giveaways.

Also, get styling tips from myself and the amazing personal stylists at fab'rik.  So come have a cocktail, shop and donate a gently used coat to receive 20% off your entire purchase.

Hope to see you all there!

Date Night

You'll all be happy to know, I'm not 100% married to this blog, CrossFit and work. I do have a life (sort of).  Headed out Saturday night on a hot date to Cucina Asellina (if you live in Atlanta, you MUST eat here).  Wore this hot little number and felt like a total bad ass.  I seem to be feeling like a bad ass a lot lately.  I think it's the resurgence of my leather jacket. Always makes me feel more hard core than I am.  But let's pretend I really am, k? K.

Also a huge huge thanks to Beka from Rebekah Carson Photography for snapping these photos of me. I'm sure I was much more annoying than the usual children, toddlers that she deals with.

New Goals

Today's going to be a good day. Why? Because it's supposed to be a high of 81 and I get to work out with the two people who turned me into a cult  member, Rachel and Ryan. I can't wait to get my ass kicked by the two of these.

New CrossFit goal, get a damn handstand push up.  Sick and tired of modifications.

Lace and Leather

I feel like I can finally wear Fall clothes. Not. It was 80 degrees today and I'm pretty sure I was dripping in sweat while taking photos.  Thank god I was wearing minimal clothing.  Always a plus here in the South. I just hope the weather stays decent since I'm counting down the days until my much deserved, long overdue, beach vacation.

On a less fashion-y note, I accomplished my very first RX workout last night at CrossFit (a legit workout). If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can skip down to Shop This Look and get your shop on. If you know what I'm talking about, you'll congratulate me.  I did the below workout RX.  Tore my hands up a bit, took forever and pretty much thought I was going to puke since I had to run past one of the smelliest dumpsters ever.  I run past these dumpsters four days a week, but something about last night was just putrid.

For Time:
15-12-9-6
Burpee - med-ball clean - wall ball 15# (who made up this movement anyway?)
Pull-ups
200 meter run

18:09 rx.  It was so nice to finally put rx after my time on the board.

Onto the shopping part of this blog (this is why you're here anyway right?)

Red Red Wine

One of my all time favorite colors is burgundy. It's so rich and luxurious and makes me feel like a million bucks.  Oh and it reminds me of my latest obsession, red wine. And it goes oh so nicely with my growing collection of gold gaudy jewelry. Hello gold tassles from Club Monaco. Welcome to my jewelry box.

Which color do you love to wear in the Fall?

Life, Motherfucker

Yes some people think I'm in a cult at CrossFit. But I learned something about myself yesterday. I think I actually prefer the gym over shopping.  Gasp!  This is a habit, a trait, an instinct I've been trying to train myself for years. And turns out, all I needed to do was join the cult of CrossFit.

Not sure what CrossFit is? Don't worry, ask someone who does it and they'll talk your ear off for the next hour or so. They'll also probably send you a ton of links to websites with articles on paleo, fitness and funny e-cards like this one.  It's the cult, we can't help it.

What do you do to stay in shape and feel good?

*Sorry, I'm not sorry if cursing offends you. It happens on my blog a lot, get used to it.

Shopping Spree

fashion, style, trends, fashion blogger, skirt, t-shirt,

So I had a slight moment this weekend. I found myself at the mall not once, not twice, but three times over the course of three days. I think I'm over my closet. I'm over the 21 year old t-shirts that are too tight (was that really the style?!) I'm already feeling old.  Did some splurging this weekend on some great new pieces like this versatile tee from Club Monaco. Leather trim? Yes please. And this baroque print jacquard skirt with a fun silhouette will be in heavy rotation this Fall with boots, tights and more.

Where do you splurge and what do you splurge on?

Currently Coveting

Cooler temps are on the horizion (no they haven't hit us yet here in Atlanta).  So coats are on my radar and this Army green one from Emerson Fry is killer.  It's sleek, chic and perfect for Fall.

Here's a similar version for a fraction of the cost.

Polka Dot Blues

Turns out black and blue looks good outside of bruises from too many burpees.  And yes, that is actually a problem one might have when they are CrossFit addicts.

Having a slight shoe problem over here these days.  Over the weekend I picked up four new pairs of shoes.  These black suede ones also came in a super fun snakeskin print that I had to have. And for only $59 how does one say no? I don't!

Granny Chic

{Shop This Look}

If I wore this sweater with anything else but a cute little dress, I'm pretty sure I'd look like a hobo wearing patchouli.  But adding a granny chic knit over a super dressy frock makes it the perfect cozy Fall look.

How do you re-wear your fancy dresses?

Frugal Fridays

Thankfully this trend is not yet over. It was all over the Spring 2013 runways which is very good news for me who has bought several of these bad boys. Keep on buying them!

The Girl With The Dog

It may be a slight obsession, but whatever. She goes with me just about everywhere. To work (love a dog friendly office) to CrossFit and as you see here, to lunch at Park Tavern.  Never thought I'd be one with a little dog, I sort of got her by default. No complaints here.

New Basics

I can already tell that these green skinnies from Nordstrom are going to be my new go to jeans for Fall. The color works well with browns and blacks which makes them super versatile.

Thanks to Poor Little It Girl for snapping these photos right before we stuffed our faces at Asellina Cucina.  Thanks for the hospitality and amazing food Chef Josh Carden!

Welcome to Fall

It's officially fall. The leaves have fallen and I'm wearing corduroys.  It doesn't get more fall than this. Is it sad I'm already hoping for warmer weather? Planning a beach vacation as we speak since I can already see my pathetic Summer tan dwindling away.

One thing I do know about keeping your skin looking fresh and as if you did just get sun kissed, is adding a little bronzer to your daily routine.  I recently got to try out Bare Minerals blush and bronzer and it's the perfect combination for a Fall glow.  I like to use the blush on the apples of my cheeks and add bronzer to my cheek bones. It's my go to combo.
